You would be surprised who has money and who doesn't. Do you feel envious of people who drive really nice cars and dress in the nicest clothes and they seem to have every new electronic gadget on the market? Do you know that often what you see is a lie? How much credit card debt does this person have? Do they have a home equity line of credit? Are they thousands and thousands of dollars in debt? Do they want you or others to perceive that they are successful and more stuff makes them that way? There are exceptions to this rule and they are people who have genuinely done well and they have made good choices with their money but it is not normally that way.

I truly am proud of my frugalness. I don't have the nicest clothes or drive the nicest car but all of these items are paid for and this gives me peace of mind.
My tennis shoes have a rip in the side and they really need to be replaced. I am waiting till I have extra cash to pay for them. I refuse to put them on credit.
I am making my daughter pay for her ballet supplies and I will soon plant a victory garden so that I can cut down on my grocery costs. I know that some people think that I am strange but why does it matter? My children know all about Good Will and Savers and they know how to use coupons. I am teaching them coping skills if things get worse with our economy.

More to come...

Church yesterday and how it relates to our finances

Wow! we had a visiting speaker yesterday and his message was powerful. He discussed forgiveness and coveting what our neighbor or fellow Christian has.

Have you ever heard the phrase "why do they get all the breaks" or 'why do they get everything handed to them?"

I know that there are times when I compare my possession to the possessions of someone else. Did someone get to go on a trip and it's not in your budget? Did someone get an expensive new house or gadget and you wonder why you can't have what they have?

Do we make assumptions on how people get things? Do we question people's choices?
It's really none of our business and we need to focus on what we are doing right or wrong in our own lives.

God says that we are to be concerned about our own business and not the finances or possessions of someone else. Most American's have so much more then most people in this country and we need to be thankful for what we are blessed with.

We as an American's think that we are entitled when we aren't!

The forgiveness part of the sermon was cool too. A very Godly relative heard this sermon and told me that he harbored bitterness towards someone from over 30 years ago and he had to give up on it.

I am the same way! I am to forgive as God forgave us!

There will be lots of fun money saving stuff happening this week and I can't wait to share!

Dawn

Saving Money With Coupons Class

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 130px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_JIj9kNJhikI/SbqBFfsEb5I/AAAAAAAAAAU/lDL1_HhC_A8/s320/GG+Header+New.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5312700641842589586" />
Good Morning,

Is this tough economy taking a toll on your budget? I make 5 jugs for what it normally would cost to buy one jug at Aldi's. I believe that I am saving 200- 300 a year and that adds up. Here is the recipe!

Now that you have assembled all the needed ingredients here is the recipe:

Homemade Laundry Soap

1/3 bar Fels Naptha or other type of soap, as listed above

½ cup washing soda

½ cup borax powder

~You will also need a small bucket, about 2 gallon size~

Grate the soap and put it in a sauce pan. Add 6 cups water and heat it until the soap melts. Add the washing soda and the borax and stir until it is dissolved. Remove from heat. Pour 4 cups hot water into the bucket. Now add your soap mixture and stir. Now add 1 gallon plus 6 cups of water and stir. Let the soap sit for about 24 hours and it will gel. You use ½ cup per load.

**A few things to note about the soap**

~The finished soap will not be a solid gel. It will be more of a watery gel that has been accurately described as an "egg noodle soup" look.

~The soap is a low sudsing soap. So if you don’t see suds, that is ok. Suds are not what does the cleaning, it is the ingredients in the soap.

Frugal Footsteps Debut Blog

Well - this is day one of my frugal mom blog.
